Nchanga Rangers escape ‘noose’
The football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Appeals Committee gave Nchanga Rangers a get out of Jail card when they reversed the disciplinary committee decision to demote them on match fixing allegations. the report read.
I cant say much about FAZ’s decision but many of Nchanga Rangers matches were too suspicious. Many will recall the 2-2 draw against Lusaka Dynamos.
The linesman was ruling offside when Conlyde Luchanga was clearly onside and Lusaka Dynamos complained bitterly. When you think back you realise now why Lusaka Dynamos complained. Something just wasn’t right about that match.
In earlier seasonal events like the 2015 Nchanga Rangers was seeing for much of the time struggling in the shadow of relegation and all of a sudden they slipped out of the lower bands. This brings those episodes to memory and raise a number of questions about the reality of match fixing in Zambia.
Additionally Nchanga Rangers have now gotten a very bad tag in the league and they will need to do a lot to clean up the clubs image. As for now and the season to come every match for Rangers wont be viewed in the same way.
Also the involved officials Elijah Mugala, Matyola Haanyama Patrick Nkhata and Shadrick Chalenga have gotten a bad tag. Such illegal and unfair game play take time to heal the football wounds.
