BARCLAYS Cup record holders and defending champions Zesco United will clash with Napsa Stars in the 2017 Barclays Cup semi-finals slated for Saturday, 14th October. The kick of is at 13h00 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Zesco United booked a place into the semifinals after a hard fought victory over zone two FAZ division one outfit Kitwe United in quarter-finals played on September 27 at Nkana Stadium. The final outcome was via a 1-0 score line with Fuckson Kapumbu being the scorer.
On the Stars’ flashback Napsa edged Green Buffaloes 3-2 on post match penalties after the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes regulated time.
Zesco have won Barclays Cup 5 times and have never lost a final of the same competition.
United first won the trophy in 2007 following a 4-2 win over Chambishi FC before defending it in 2008 after beating Power Dynamos 1-0.
The Ndola giants went on to win the cup for the third time in 2010 beating Zanaco 2-0.
In 2014, the Zlatko Krmpotic side baptized Nkana with an emphatic 3-0 score line and later won it for the 5th time in 2016 after slaying Zanaco 1-0 at Heroes National Stadium.
On the other hand, Napsa have won Barclays Cup once and that was in 2012 when they beat Power Dynamos 4-2.
On the same venue at 15h00, Zanaco battle it out with Lusaka Dynamos.
Zanaco qualified after their opponents Power Dynamos withdrawal from the competition while Lusaka Dynamos saw off Kabwe Youth Academy 1-0 at Nkoloma Stadium.
Zanaco have never won the trophy despite reaching the finals twice in 2010 and 2016 respectively.
Winners of semi-finals will advance to the finals to be played on October 28.
