Can this be Patson Daka’s year? There has always been one special quality about PATSON Daka which makes him unique and a cut above reproach. When he starts scoring, he doesn’t just stop.

Chipping into perspective, PATSON Daka was struggling in front of goal a season before he became Zambia’s darling.

Despite National Team Coach George Lwandamina standing for him that season, he received cut-throat criticism across the country each time he was called for the National team to an extent that he was nicknamed FAZ Daka.

It was due to the fact that many believed that he never deserved the National team call ups.

By June 2015, he had not scored any goal for his club Nchanga Rangers but Lwandamina went on to put him in Zambia’s starting line up against Guinea Bissau and Patson couldn’t afford even a shot on target. Guns went blazing on him and Coach Lwandamina but he kept the focus and belief as he matched on.

In the 2016 season, he kept trying to put the pieces together as he went to Power Dynamos. He started a bit shaky but with consistent playing time, he broke off the choking hold as he lashed out some shut up displays and by the death of the season, he had netted more than 12 times.

He went on to score a total of 17 goals 5 of the goals coming from the COSAFA under 20 championship which Zambia won.

Came 2017, he was named Zambia’s player of the year as he led Zambia under 20 to African GLORY on home soil scoring 4 goals. He went on to have a telling world cup where Zambia crushed in the quarter-finals and came beckoning was Red Bull Salzburg.

By the close of the year, he was bubbling with such overflowing confidence that he scored against Algeria in the back to back fixtures putting Zambia back in the World cup race.

Well, he is a boy who needs a patient coach and patient fans. That is exactly what he has found at Salzburg and now he will them reap from their patience.

After a few games he had at Salzburg in the 2018 season it was most likely that he will be loaned or sold but they decided to keep him and that’s the greatest decision they have ever made.

He had a great 2019 preseason and that was a smoking gun for him. He continued with his fine form against Chelsea when he came in to change the face of the game and he was unfortunate When his effort was cleared off the line by Azpillicueatta. He is playing well and we know what happens when Patson finds his footing.

Stepping into the New season, the Salzburg coach invested his confidence in the boy by giving him a starting berth in the first home match of the season yesterday and he scored.

When he starts scoring like this, he never just stops! Can this be Patson’s photocopy of his 2016 season?
