Zambia vs Lesotho: Coach Avram Grant has unveiled Zambia’s final squad for their AFCON qualifier matches against Lesotho to be played on 23 March home and 27th away.
Grant will be relying on his selected 27-man squad, including Patson Daka, Lubambo Musonda, and Kings Kangwa, to secure maximum points in front of their home fans at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The team is hoping to bounce back from their recent loss to Mali in a friendly game, and cover up their disappointing start to the Africa Cup of Nations qualification group stage, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Ivory Coast.
The loss to Ivory Coast saw Zambia struggle to contain the likes of Serge Aurier, Christian Kouamé, and Ibrahim Sangaré, who scored for the host, with Patson Daka scoring a late consolation goal for Zambia.
In their second game against Comoros, Zambia managed to turn things around and secured a 2-1 win, with goals from Kings Kangwa and Enock Mwepu. However, they will need to continue their winning form to keep their hopes of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations alive.
Zambia is currently placed second in Group H with 3 points, tied with Comoros but with a lower goal difference. Ivory Coast leads the group with 4 points, while Lesotho is at the bottom with just 1 point. The upcoming back-to-back matches against Lesotho are crucial for Zambia’s qualification hopes, and the team will need to put in a strong performance to secure maximum points.
Coach Avram Grant will be hoping that his final 27-man squad selection will be able to deliver the goods, with players like Patson Daka, Lubambo Musonda, Fashion Sakala Jnr and Kings Kangwa expected to lead the charge. With the support of their fans at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Zambia will be looking to put on a show and secure the vital wins they need to progress to the Africa Cup of Nations.
