Zesco United vs Nkana Abandoned
VIOLENCE MARS ZESCO, NKANA MATCH
Zesco United and Nkana had their week 24 match abandoned in additional time on Friday evening after a section of fans threw objects on to the field of play following a penalty given to the visitors at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Before the abandonment, the game had earlier been stopped by the referee due to violent behaviour by a section of Nkana fans who threw objects on to the pitch in the 84th minute, with the score tied at 1-1.
Play would resume six minutes later, but would be stopped after two minutes, when a section of Zesco United fans pelted objects on to the pitch following the awarding of a penalty to Nkana. The penalty was given after defender Marcel Kalonda handled the ball inside the penalty area in the second of three additional minutes.
The match will now be decided by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Disciplinary Committee, following reports from the referee and the Match Commissioner.
