FAZ Salutes Janny Sikazwe as the first Zambian referee to officiate at FIFA World Cup

Janny Sikazwe was at the centre of the Group G FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 match between Belgium and Panama. Belgium went on to win 3-0 as their first match at the tournament. This is not the first time Janny SIkazwe has handled a high profile game.

Sikazwe at the close of 2016 year showed his discipline when he refereed TheĀ 2016 FIFA Club World Cup final between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers.

And last year at FIFA 2017 World Cup Under 20 Sikazwe also showed his presence when he handled the Mexico vs Germany which ended 0-0 on 23 May. His other and earlier success include that he was one of the referees at the 2015 Africa Cup Of Nations and later officitiated theĀ 2017 Africa Cup Of Nations final in Gabon.

FAZ salutes Sikazwe

On behalf of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Executive and the entire football family, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Zambian referee, Janny Sikazwe for becoming the first Zambian referee to officiate at a FIFA World Cup.

As an Association we are proud of the landmark Sikazwe has achieved and would like to encourage him to continue working hard to have more opportunities to represent Zambia at the ongoing World Cup and beyond.

We are confident that his example will encourage many youth people with the talent to aim high in all their endeavors knowing very well that everything is possible.

Congratulations once more for this great achievement and good luck in all your future endeavors.
