Forest Rangers beat Zesco United in week 16 match

Forest Rangers beat Zesco United in the FAZ MTN super league local derby week 16 fixture at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola. The match was played on Sunday.

 

A Greenford Mumba’s free kick was enough to snatch a victory and collect 3 points for Fole Malembe. Forest Rangers have now moved to 24 points seating on the fifth position, well above the City Mates Zesco United. Also to see is Power Dynamos and Green Buffaloes well below. Another City Mate Buildcon seat below on the 12th.

Zlatco Loss but through to Caf competition

The rescheduled match originally set for Wednesday 12th July 2017 was brought forward to Sunday to facilitate Supersport live coverage. Despite the loss Zlatko men earlier received the news of qualification to the 8 of the Caf Confederation Cup.

 

This was following FIFA suspension of the Sudanese Football governing body affecting CAF to disqualify Al Hilal Omdurman. Zesco was next scheduled to play Al Hilal Obeid.

 

In line with the decision, the three Sudanese clubs, El Hilal, El Merreikh (Total CAF Champions League) and Al Hilal Obeid (Total CAF Confederation Cup) are disqualified from the two competitions.  Cafonline news read in part
