Twelve times league champions Nkana football club have set their eyes on the continental tournament when they report back to training this Thursday after the players were granted a four days’ rest.
Nkana are more motivated after winning the Barclay`s cup trophy last Saturday when they beat Young Buffaloes 3-0 in the final. The Reds will host the Uniao Desportiva Do Songo of Mozambique on the 27th of November at Nkana stadium in Kitwe of which the winner will meet either Simba sports of Tanzania or Mbabane Swallows of Eswatini.
Nkana who recently signed Chisamba Lungu, Duncan Otieno of Kenya and Ben Adama Bah from Buildcon look more set to compete.
But the worrisome concern is how strong is the central midfield which they cried over and over and seem to have costed them the super league title?
Meanwhile, country mates Zesco united will be away to Niger`s AS SONIDEP and the winner in that match will play TP Mazembe of DRC.
The Confederations cup representatives, Green Buffaloes and Green Eagles will begin the campaigns at home to Al Merreikh of South Sudan and Young Buffaloes of Eswatini (Swaziland) respectively.
If Green Buffaloes winner that fixture, they will meet CS Sfaxien of Tunisia. While Green Eagles may meet the winner between Nasr Athletic Hussein Dyey of Algeria or Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzaville.
Nkana will need to rely more the creativity of Zambia’s most dangerous chance creator, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba and Chisamba Lungu who both possess qualities that every team fancies to hold.
Kelvin`s brilliant passing and set piece taking has helped nkana attacking options more favorable to get much needed goals. He has been in top form of late and keeps improving in each game and Coach Chambeshi will have to rely much on his supplies. For goals, Nkana will have to put their trust in their trick star striker Ronald Kampamba, Walter B.S Bwalya and Festers Mbewe
