NKANA football club recorded their first win in the CAF confederations cup group stage. This was a second game in which they beat Sudanese side Al Hilal in Kitwe.
And Zesco United lost their second game away in Tumasi Ghana to Asante Kotoko with a 2-1 scoreline.
Nkana desperately needed to bounce back in the contention for African glory after losing 2-0 to country mates, Zesco United a week ago. They went down early in the sixth minute when Hilal striker Waleed Bakhet Hamid struck from short range to beat Kelvin Malunga after a through ball from former Nkana striker Idris Mbombo.
It took six minutes more for Nkana to equalize in 12th minute through Fred Tshimenga after Walter Bwalya superbly dribbled his through the right flank to set up a an equalizer.
After the break, the visitors had an upper hand to control the game right from onset and could have scored two goals from Nkana`s playing mistakes but blazed the ball over the crossbar.
After Nkana settled from their sluggish start from the break, Walter Bwalya put the home side 2-1 up in the 75th minute and they had to hold on until the last whistle.
Nkana will host Asante Kotoko at Nkana stadium in Kitwe on 24th February 2019 in the third round of the Caf confederations group stage.
Asante Kotoko thrilled over Zesco United at home in a 2-1 scoreboard at final whistle. Asante played a high pressing and flawless game that has pushed Zesco to the limit.
After several waves of attacks Kondwani Mtonga had to give in to pressure and was red carded in the 89th minute.
