Avram Grant just announced his squad to face Lesotho and the waves of shock as he included two features from national division one at the expense of top premier players left the country burning. We take a look at the players to watch and major ommissions from the Avram Grant’s squad.

Kelvin Mwanza – Fc Muza v Kansanshi Dynamoes

The 19 years old FC MUZA captain and Keith Mweemba’s article of faith’s ommission from all National teams from the Under 20 that crash landed in Egypt to Benin bound under 23 and now the senior national team preparing for Lesotho defies logic.

FC MUZA has been in scintillating form as they ghost into the top four brackets having kicked Red Arrows out of the ABSA cup and in the cock pit of this steady and cruising flight has been Kelvin Mwanza. Not an Isaac Chansa in aggression and definitely not a Rainford Kalaba in acceleration but Mwanza has a super cool style of his own that beckons attention.

He keeps initiating bavarian triangles and tireless runs and circles of dominance which tire and cripple his opponents. His ball control and footwork is sheer artwork

AMETY SHAMENDE – Kansanshi v Green Eagles

The 23-year Green Eagles attacking midfielder and Choma cult Hero was also nowhere near the senior National team preparing for Lesotho but at 9 goals this season, Shamende has been devastating in the Green Eagles midfield.

The nimble-footed midfield maestro has been all belt and braces in the Eagles distribution chamber. His sense of awareness, vision, and support play has been hair-raising. In his deep-lying playmaking role, he is a technically gifted playmaker who makes his feet do whatever he wants with cunning easily. The Eagles will host Kansanshi Dynamos in Choma and Shamende will be that player to watch.

BENEDICT NCHEPESHI – Red Arrows v Nkana

Red Arrows slept throughout the first half of their dismal ABSA cup ejection by FC Muza and their defense was sluggish but one bright light kept bursting with blinding radiance and it is not surprising that Avram Grant spotted it: Benedict Chepeshi stared in the Red Arrows’ right flank and it was not the first time the Red Arrows captain was putting up a cinema performance. He is quick, agile and a lethal crosser of the ball. His ability to combine, connect and influence play is genius, and as Chepeshi takes on Nkana in his last game before he wears the National budge agaisnt Lesotho. He is worth watching this week.

LINOS MAKWAZA Jnr – Power Dynamoes v ZANACO

The Power Dynamos midfield dynamite’s growth and stability in filling up the void Benson Sakala left has been breathtaking. Makwaza jnr who is the grandson of former Zambian international Dickson Makwaza has been a handful in the Power Dynamoes midfield. His play against Mufulira Wanderers in the ABSA cup was the loudest performance hitherto. Against a crowd that fueled Mighty to win from the first whistle, Makwaza remained calm and kept breaking down every cable of attack in the mighty system with some Bousquets calm and sheer ease. Power Dynamoes will host struggling ZANACO in a match the leaders must win with easy and Makwaza will be a player to watch and monitor

CHILIMBA MOONGA – Green Buffaloes FC v Lumwana Radiants

With Mabika Aime getting his clearance, the Zambian defense looks even the most difficult department to find a place but Chilimba Moonga has been a brutal savage in the Buffalo’s rear rank and he is worth noticing. The veteran center back and the captain has been a concrete fortress throwing hard tackles and braving his aging body in every line of fire with a heart of a general. Green Buffaloes takes on Lumwana in a match the soldiers must collect three points and Chilimba Moonga will be out to prove a point.

In other matches, Prison Leopards will host Forest Rangers while Lazarous Kambole will lead Zesco United in Kabwe as Kabwe Warriors host the Ndola giants. Elsewhere, Nkwazi will be at home to entertain brave Nchanga Rangers.
