Maite Win From 3 Games To Usher Them Into Super League

Mufulira Wanderers first goal in the premier league in 9 years with Warren Kunda, Fumbani and Mumba Mutale

This Saturday 3rd October, Maite Mufulira Wanderers promotion back to the MTN FAZ Super League will be confirmed with just a victory over their closest rivals Chambishi. 

Maite Mufulira Wanderers football club`s run for promotion has been superb this season. They’ve played 27 games, winning 18, drawing 8 and losing only 1 game in the process and having a goal difference of 31 tells the whole story. Maite have been determined and meant business to return to top freight football as quickly as possible.

The nine times Zambian super league champions and the most cup winners in Zambia will be back to the MTN FAZ super league next season should they pick any three points from the remaining three games.

Maite lead the table with 62 points and are closely followed by Chambeshi on 56 and Indeni on 54 points respectively. So playing Chambeshi this weekend put the club’s effort into good perspective.

Meanwhile, once Zambian super league giants Kalulushi Modern Stars are into fight for survival. Once stubborn team in Zambia, Kalulushi are lying 12th on the log with only two points off relegation zone. Point tabulation  is 25 for the Stars, ZNS Lwamfumu 24, Mufulira Blackpool 21, Kashikishi 16 and non performing Mining rangers at the bottom with just 7 points.

With just three games remaining, Kalulushi are expected to win all the matches to secure safety and stay in Division One otherwise Blackpool and Kashikishi might pounce to overtake them.
