Free Scoring Zambia under 17 side Utupolopolo have continued setting Southern Africa ablaze at the ongoing COSAFA under 17 championships.
After posting a 6-0 bashing over Eswatini in their first match, the Zambian boys handed South Africa a 7-0 whitewash in the second game of the group this afternoon.
Zambia scored through Miguel Chaiwa 10′, Joseph Banda 20′, Rickson Ng’ambi 38′, 52′, Moses Mulenga 50′, Charles Mumba 68′, and Peter Chikola in the 72nd minute to hand South Africa a humiliating 7-0 bashing at Mpira stadium in Malawi.
There were echoes of accusation labeled against the boys soon after they beat eSwatini and the ugly echoes have just gotten louder.
Malawian commentators who first blew the whistle against the Zambian team suspecting age cheating in the game against eSwatini have come out strong and demanding again.
The Malawians are insisting the Zambian team is flooded with over-aged players and that COSAFA must redo the MRI test to ascertain the real age of the boys. The Malawians now joined by South Africa and eSwatini are claiming that the Zambians are playing football too matured for an under 17 side.
Flashback three years ago, Zambia had two players suspended and banned by COSAFA for age cheating.
Meanwhile, the Zambian boys are perched on top of their group with six points and 13 goals in two matches.
