The Zambia Super League caught flames of excitement over the weekend with Kelvin Kampamba’s monster thirty-yard thunderbolt from a dead ball giving Zesco United a point after being pinned against the wall by Prison Leopards who took the lead through an Obashi tap-in.

Flames were everywhere across the country’s football landscape with both Power Dynamoes and MUZA FC seeing off their opponents to qualify for the next round of CAF championships but Nkana falling to Mutondo’s lethal sword headlined the hoolabolou.

Newly promoted Mutondo Stars are yet to be beaten after round two of matches in the MTN Super League and the boys from Kitwe are causing a stir.

Mutondo began their super league campaign with a barren draw away to Green Eagles in Choma before they set their alter of sacrifice alight on Sunday when a 1-0 win over Nkana at Levy Mwanawasa stadium was enough to condemn the thirteen times champion to their second loss of the season.

Mutondo looked like killer bees on a mission of destruction from the start as they maintained a defined system breathing from a potent diamond in their midfield while they stayed true to a disciplined and resolute back line.

Their close control in attack, sharp intricate passing, and explosive wing play was a nightmare for a rattled Nkana that looked unintelligent and Mutondo was unkind as 18-year-old Osmond Chita took advantage to make a statement about his potency.

Playing in the right wing with a big smile on his face, Chita was a wonder to behold as he put up a man-of-the-match display. His sharp thought pattern and ravaging footwork kept sending waves of wow in the stands each time he charged forward and he creamed his display with an assist.

Quick exchanges on the lips of the Nkana box set him charging to the right and when he received the ball back, the teenager razed through the Nkana defense with a crooked cut back that Dalitso Lungu buried from close range to send the ever-green on a dancing spree.

The win sent Mutondo to the top of the league on four points alongside Zesco United, Forest Rangers, and Mufulira Wanderers while Nkana is condemned to the bottom of the table after match day two.
