In a stunning turn of events, MUZA FC has been awarded crucial points by the FAZ Disciplinary Committee after the abandoned match between Red Arrows FC and FC MUZA in the MTN Super League Week 30.
The fixture, which was held at Nkoloma Stadium on April 22nd, was called off at half-time due to Red Arrows’ inability to provide adequate security, prompting the match officials to abandon the game.
The FAZ Disciplinary Committee launched an investigation into the matter, and both teams were summoned to appear before the committee alongside other expert witnesses. Upon review of the evidence, the committee found that Red Arrows were guilty of failing to provide sufficient security at the venue as the host team, which led to the violent skirmishes that erupted between their club officials and their opponents.
The verdict read, “Red Arrows Fc through its security personnel caused the abandonment of the week 30 fixture. In terms of Article 57 and Article 31 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code 2021 edition, Red Arrows Fc is found guilty. This Committee, therefore, imposes a fine of K20,000, and Red Arrows further forfeits the week 30 fixture to Muza FC by a 0-3 score line.”
As a result, MUZA FC has been awarded a much-needed 3-0 victory, and Red Arrows has been fined K20,000 for their role in the match’s abandonment. The airmen have been given a 72-hour window to appeal the decision.
FAZ acting General Secretary Iva Lengwe expressed gratitude to the judicial bodies for their hard work in resolving outstanding cases throughout the season. He emphasized the need for timely disposal of cases to avoid any controversies as the season nears its end.
