Scratches from inside the coffin! Are the dead (Nkana) rising?

2019 Forest Rangers outwith Nkana

Yes, you heard right! Is Nkana rising from the dead scratching inside the coffin in this Saint-Saëns a Danse Macabre?

Echoes from the grave have kept getting louder as Nkana keeps scratching the inside of the coffin with ferocious intensity. The embattled 13 times Champions this afternoon came from behind to give Napsa stars a 4-1 beating.

Stories of the return of the dead were first heard a month ago when the 13-time champions signed Alex Ng’onga from Power Dynamoes to boost their chances of survival and what sounded like a roller coaster ride on the wind might just be real. The dead are back! There might be some life inside the coffin.

The rescheduled match played in Kitwe began on a terrific tempo and 14 minutes into the battle of demons and angels, Jimmy Mukeya powered NAPSA in front with a fine finish. The two sides kept trading punches as they battled for the control of the midfield and Nkana got their first gleam of a possible comeback in the 37th minute when Duke Abuya juggled past a maze of Napsa defenders before he slides the ball into an empty net.

Nkana’s rich vein of stupendous form hit the boiling point just two minutes into the second half when Nkana’s chief taster of everything strong brewing in Wusakile Diamond Chikwekwe ran round the Napsa defense with some sweet trickery before he poked home from close range to put Kalampa ahead.

Ten minutes before time, Alex Ng’onga put cream on a Stellar display when he stole the ball from the NAPSA defense to fire home a screamer with pounding ferocity.

4-1 it ended in favour of Kalampa and the tales of the return of the dead keep turning into reality. The win pushed Nkana to 31 point six points away from climbing out of the relegation zone.

Elsewhere, a brace from Anos Tembo and a cool finish from Amity Shamende saw Green Eagles beat Indeni 3-0 in Choma.

In another match played in Kitwe, a cheecky last minute dink from Collins Sikombe gave Lusaka Dynamoes a vital win over relegated Kitwe United.
