Zambia’s most thrilling and unscripted football drama keeps unfolding as Nkana host Zesco United in KITWE this afternoon.
It’s been a fixture ever swallowed in bloody rivalry and despite the fans not being present, it’s a clash pregnant with everything football can offer.
Nkana will step into this match bubbling with confidence and a sense of hope after they beat Red Arrows in Lusaka last week and there can never be anything as boosting as beating Zesco United. The defending champions might have looked frail and drowning over the past weeks but they are a team built on glorious reputation and it’s a reputation now flowing with fresh thrilling aspiration after ZRA stepped in to stop the bleeding on their financial wounds.
Nkana will however need a better stance than they gave against Red Arrows as they come against a Zesco side that has been on an upward trajectory and looks too compact to be stopped.
The Numba Mumamba drilled side is quick and athletic upfront and can press and sting from the wings at the same time as they are capable of sitting back to sock any possible counters. Zesco began on a rusty note but they have finally found their trump cards and have cracked into tittle contention and a win against Nkana will take them to second on the log and only point behind league leaders Prison Leopards.
In other week 13 fixtures played yesterday,
A brace from Aubrey Chellah saw Green Buffaloes beat Kabwe Warriors at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka while Napsa Stars and Red Arrows settled for a 2-2 draw. Napsa scored through Emmanuel Mayuka who scored a brace while James Chamanga and Joseph Phiri scored for Arrows.
Elsewhere, Kitwe United were held to a barrwn draw by Lumwana Radiants while Prison Leopards beat Forest Rangers by 2-0 to go to the top of the league table.
