According to today’s Times Of Zambia Home Affairs Minister Mr Stephen Kampyongo is disgusted by the fans behaviour during week 24 of the Zambia Super League match between Zesco United and Nkana.
The game was marred by violence as fans from both sides threw objects into the pitch in protest of the alleged poor officiating by the referee from Kabwe.
Nkana fans threw bottles in protest of referee’s decision when Idriss Mbombo was fouled after 70 minutes of play. The game was halted for about 8 minutes before it could be resumed.
Then of special mention about Wiseman Musakwa officiating the game was the additional 3 minutes time given when earlier the game had been halted for about 8 minutes. Additionally a penalty was given to Nkana after defender Marcel Kalonda handled the ball inside the penalty area in the 90+2 additional minutes.
This angered the Zesco fans who started throwing objects onto the pitch. Referee ruled the game could not be controlled and hence rendering it abandoned. The game was abandoned at 1-1 equal footing. Ronald Kampamba had opened up the deadlock before Lazarous Kambole could bring back Zesco into the game.
But the Home Affairs Minister Mr Kampyongo has since instructed the Police to get involved and to summon both Zesco and Nkana Managers.
“I have requested the commissioner of Police on the Copperbelt to summon the managers of these two clubs and other clubs where we are seeing this behaviour in their fan”
