Weekend tough Fixture for Nkana, New Monze Swallows

Straight from a 2-1 defeat at home to bitter rivals Power Dynamos last Monday, Kalampa Nkana have another seemingly daunting task on Sunday as they welcome defending Champions Zesco United at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile as the FAZ Super League enters Week 5.

Meanwhile in Lusaka the southern province super league toddlers New Monze Swallows will face the might of Lusaka Dynamos. Swallows are yet to record a win as they enter week 5. Lusaka Dynamos are sitting 13th just two steps below Zesco United who are 11th.

However United head into Sundays match coming from a disappointing 0-0 draw against National Assembly last Wednesday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Earlier this year, Nkana dismantled United 4-3 in the final of the Charity Shield played in Lusaka at Nkoloma Stadium.

Nkana occupy 7th place on the log with a game in hand while Zesco is 11th on the table with 2 games in hand.

This match will be a 21st encounter between the two in the league ,with Ndola outfit claiming 11 wins compared to the Kitwe side’s 2 wins from the possible 20 meetings since 2004.

Nkana have never beaten Zesco in Wusakile with the best home record against Ndola giants being a draw.

Zesco have recorded 4 wins with 6 matches ending in a stalemate in their last 10 meetings with Nkana in Kitwe.

A total of 47 goals have been produced between the two sides.

From the past 10 matches played in Wusakile, Zesco have scored 12 goals while Nkana have only managed 7 goals.

Last year, United held Nkana to a 2-2 draw at home but Kalampa went on to win the reverse fixture 1-0 in Ndola.

The Tenant Chembo tutored side last overcame Nkana on June 16th, 2016 at Nkana Stadium via a 1-0 score line.

The onus will be on striker Jesse Were, Winston Kalengo, Walter Bwalya and Ronald Kampamba to rise to the occasion and deliver the much needed result for their respective teams.
