Road to Niger 2019 for the African champions Zambia under 20 continued on the brighter path. This is when the UK based and Wigan Athletic young star Mwiya Malumo scored for the first time for Zambia and helped the team to victory. In the second leg played at Nkoloma against Rwanda. Despite the 1-1 draw Zambia emerged victors on 3-1 goal aggregate and qualified to the final round of the qualifiers.
Malumo’s first goal for Zambia just into second half broke the deadlock that Rwanda hanged on Zambia. Beginning from the first half waves of chances from Martin Njobvu, Francisco Mwepu and Lameck Banda could not publish a result.
But a goal came few minutes into second half when Mwiya Malumo scored brilliantly passing one defender and almost losing the effort but the ball poked into the net.
20 minutes later in the 73 minute of play a goal for Rwanda was summoned by Samuel Marie and Zambia had defense had no chance to thwart the Rwandan young star.
The African champions will face winner between Sudan and Burundi
