Napsa Stars and Zanaco football clubs square off in this year’s Barclays Cup final slated for Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday with a kick-off marked at 15h00.

Both teams head into Saturday’s final with bubbling confidence after recording wins in their respective league matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. But it’s Numamba’s side that all odds stand aside with. 

Last year Sensation Zanaco packed in the 2016 super league trophy and went on to play the Caf champions league until Wydad Casablanca knocked them out from group stages.

Zanaco apart from enjoying the top seat have also not recorded a loss in the last four games played. They scored 7 goals conceding only 2. Napsa last 4 games have only won 2 and conceded 3.

But prelude to this final, Napsa edged out defending champions Zesco United 4-2 on post match penalties. While sensational Zanaco overcame elite Lusaka Dynamos recording the only goal of the semis at Nkoloma Stadium earlier this month to qualify for this year’s final.

On the other hand, Napsa have won Barclays Cup once and that was in 2012 when they beat Power Dynamos 4-2.

This will be the fourth time a team from Lusaka win the prestigious Barclays cup.

This years final will see winners pocket K350, 000 with the runners up walking away with K180, 000.

Coach of the tournament will receive K15, 000 with the player of the tournament getting K15, 000.

Man of the Match will get K5000.

Midfielder Simon Bwalya is the current all time leading top scorer of the Barclays Cup with 5 goals.
