ZANACO football club heads to Harare City this thursday afternoon to face “The Sunshine Boys” Harare City football club of Zimbabwe for the 1/8-finals first encounter in the Orange CAF Confederation Cup. The first leg will be played on 12th March 2016 in Harare City Zimbabwe.
Mumamba Numba for this weekend event has named a competing 18 man team against a backdrop of Harare City’s recent history in the Zimbabwean top league and a team that has never won the Zimbabwean league championship. The last Harare City came close tasting the glory of the league was in 2013 when “they agonizingly lost the league title on a dramatic last day – falling out to Dynamos on goal difference.”
“Sensational” Zanaco football club on one hand has been a successful team since its top division debut in the Zambian super league has since won the league title 6 times with several accolades of trophies in the Football Association of Zambia tournaments.
In addition to 5 appearances in the CAF Champions league Zanaco has had only a single participation in the CAF Confederation where they reached the Quarter-Finals in the year 2010.

However Zanaco will miss a few notable players;
Aaron Katebe is missing from the list due to International Transfer Certificate delay. Katebe’s certificate was not sent in good time for registration.
Other notable names missing from the list are Andrew Kwiliko, Portipher Zulu, Mwelwa Sakala and Ernest Mbewe.
