Red Arrows was squared off in a heavy defeat at home by Zesco United. A similar defeat at home was only recorded in 2005 against Enyimba in the CAF league.

 

The Zambia super league rescheduled week 21 fixture saw Zesco square off Arrows in a strong footing of 4 – 1. The Kenyan international player Jesse Were scored a brace pushing him to 14 league goals this season.

 

The other two goals came from Idriss Mbombo and Cletus Chama. Of interest is Mbombo who has been shortlisted on the African player of the year for the 2016. In the 2015 season for the lower FAZ Division One Mbombo excelled leading to Zesco’s interest. Competing with other club’s interest in him only Zesco managed to acquire him.

Zesco United`s win puts them on 49 points on the log and 15 points behind Zanaco football club occupying the top slot.  Zesco United is pushing for the top slot which can be achieved if they were to win the 5 matches they have in hand.

 

Going Down

This defeat for Red Arrows represent among other worst defeats at home. Such as by Nkana when they were hammered 3-0. They were also done by ENPPI club of Egypt in the 2009 Caf Confederation with a remarking goal record of 4-0.

 

Red Arrows has equally had astounding records at home with 4 – 1 against Zanaco toward the end of the 2011 season. Also another 4 -1 against Forest Rangers in the beginning of the 2010 season.

 

At the end of 2009 season a record goal of 6 -1 was achieved as Red Arrows blew down the ‘sugar boys of Mazabuka’  Nakambala Leopards.
