Here is what you need to know about the Women’s Olympic football tournament in Tokyo where Zambia women’s football the Copper Queens will be participating in Group F.
The women’s football tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics will be held from 21 July to 6 August 2021. Originally, it was to be held from 22 July to 7 August 2020, but the Summer Olympics were postponed to the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, the official name of the games remains as the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Zambia national women’s team will be participating in the tournament having been placed in Group F. There are three groups of four teams, denoted as groups E, F, and G. This was done to avoid confusion with the groups of the men’s tournament which use designations A to D.
Group F Composition
Zambia in group F will be contesting against the
- Peoples Republic of China
- Brazil, and
- Netherlands.
The opening match for Zambia will be played against the Netherlands on 21st July 2021 at Miyagi Stadium, Rifu. On 24th July China will play Zambia. While the last game will be with Brazil and determine the final position whether to proceed to the quarter-finals.
